Can a daily Earth Signal on TV, radio and Internet foster world
peace? Can love conquer hate? Can faith conquer fear?

Psychological and psychic factors are perhaps the most decisive in determining human events. Certainly Hitler rode the crest of a raging wave of hate rising from the depths of the human psyche.

Is it possible that in Man’s unconscious, feelings of love or hate in a large number of people can coagulate and focus their power on a single object resulting in fatal or redemptive effects?

Are the tragic assassinations of great leaders who were doing good the result (at least in part) of these little understood but very real factors?

Are the actions of mentally disturbed people sometimes the result of collective hate that has found a waiting trigger to release its evil energy?

Can the healing power of love and faith prevent these kinds of tragedies?

Did the waning spiritual support of Dr. King by his followers result in a failure of spiritual or psychic protection at the time of his death?

Can thoughts of strong feeling affect other minds tuned in on the same subject?

Does not the existence of ESP, spiritual healing, and other phenomena suggest a non-material energy at work in human affairs?

Can it be possible that a high intensity faith and love in one individual can add to a collective energy in the unconscious of other people concerned with a particular person, or problem? Can this energy neutralize, heal, or overcome opposing attitudes of fear and hate?

Could the deaths of John and Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King been prevented by those who knew how to pray with love and faith for their protection, but didn’t?

Reflection on these and other related thoughts may lead us to consider the tremendous power that is available through each person’s inner mind or self. A high intensity love, free from all hate or bitter feelings about any person, may add to the collective energy that is working at the deepest levels of psychic reality to thwart chaotic energies and achieve a higher level of spiritual life on our planet. Every concern that is transformed through prayer and meditation to love and faith is working directly for renewal of Earth and Earthkind.

The test of whether faith is real is the action that follows to back it up. Faith for peace in Palestine will be accompanied by a search for facts and a generous giving of time and money to relieve suffering and to aid peaceful actions for ending the war. At the same time, the problem in our technical age of great distances between our acts and their results can be countered by inner awareness of psychic feed-back from the results of our thoughts and actions. A sensitive pilot then might have a problem dropping a bomb – because he would feel the pain of the injured. And the taxpayer who pays for the bomb would feel the prick of his conscience. The awakened individual will heed the inner feed-back and seek to make his actions consistent with his best thoughts.

In this consideration of the direct power of thought and mind, we are not suggesting a super-duper-computer at work in the unconscious. Perhaps in part this is the way it works. But a better and more human analogy, which brings us closer to the awesome mysteries of the unknown, was provided by the amazing carpenter-teacher Jesus, who told us two thousand years ago to think about God and talk to Him as a loving Father.

In these days of scientific research we have probed tiny particles of the atom, explored the moon and neighboring planets, and searched distant solar systems without finding any physical signal from the Creator, who if He exists must be as much and more than we are. Nevertheless, we find that the acceptance of the idea of a divine loving Father aids the growth of profound non-material realities, like courage, faith, love, compassion, kindness, wonder, awareness of beauty, joy. The record of history attests this over and over again. Perhaps some day our probing and our search will solve some of the mystery and bring a better way. But for now, most people find that talking to their heavenly Father obtains the best results in experiencing the inner power of universal love. Its more effective than talking to nobody, or to some nebulous Supreme Unknown.

The amazing thing is that it works. Faith in a heavenly Father can increase our inner capacity for love and for sending healing thought to other troubled minds.

But regardless of the different formulas and brand names, or no names, employed by people of different beliefs, the importance of love is recognized by all. We desperately need a united effort by all groups, churches, temples, schools, clubs...young and old, to apply the power of intensive loving thoughts and deeds to the fierce indecencies of war and violence. To this end we should appropriate at least a few billion dollars for research on how the proven powers of meditation and prayer can be used more effectively to promote understanding, cooperation and peace. Breakthroughs in psychic research should be vigorously pursued and applied to freeing men and nations from their obsessions, freeing them to create in love the peaceable kingdom.

To aid the efforts for peace in the Middle East, much of what is generally accepted by people of all religions (and by humanitarians of no religion) could be put to use right now by designating a brief time (1 or 2 minutes) for simultaneous silent meditation and prayer throughout the world. This could occur three times a day (0300, 1100 and 1900 GMT) and unite the thoughts and feelings of millions in concentrated faith for peace, or purposing peace. These "EARTH SIGNALS" would be carried by radio, TV and Internet in countries throughout the world. The Earth Signal would consist of the ringing of the Peace Bell at the United Nations and be followed by local or global programming of peaceful music, or sounds of nature. Each listener could then add his concentrated thought and faith to that of others in a growing current of peace and love.

If there is sending power in the human mind, if united faith really works, if love can be reinforced, then an "EARTH SIGNAL" experiment could result in dramatic new actions of creative conciliation in efforts for peace.

There is a wave of love rising in the silent world of human consciousness. With the help of the Earth Signal, faith can make it grow until it is more powerful than Hitler’s wave of hate. So powerful it will sweep away the fears in the trouble spots of the world and bring us peace.
